Submissions are OPEN until August 15, 2011.

The International Beethoven Project (IBP), a Chicago-based not-for-profit cultural, social and educational enterprise is calling for portraits and film submissions for the 2011 Beethoven Festival. The Festival is open to artists of all genders and nationalities.

Subject Matter: Beethoven’s music and artistic vision, as well as his unyielding sense of self as an artist and humanist, have shaped the creative community for generations across all disciplines.  While the Festival aims to promote the music of Beethoven by educating people about Beethoven’s output and life, it is predicated on the belief that art is interconnected and that categorizing often ends in separation. Through its mixture of music, art and film, the Festival takes down the barriers between these mediums, in a bid to promote connectivity across the arts and to connect history with the present.  Artists are invited to submit pieces inspired by Beethoven’s existing portraits, his compelling life story and his revolutionary music.  The aim is to challenge traditional perceptions and become a relevant part of the debate on the meaning of art, inspiration, and the power of creativity on shaping a better world today.  The goal is for people to step into the Festival and be awed, inspired, provoked and challenged into rethinking Beethoven, music, art and the future of our creative world!
